Action; Playing with Fire @ Just outside the Inn

[This experiment is proof that David can’t do everything he’s read in a textbook. He’s trying to create something that will burn longer than candle wax but so far his efforts aren’t going well. There are a few different items in front of him: wood, pieces from the forest, cloth and water. Cloth burns quickly but if there is an accelerant on it like wax to wick it’d burn slow.

As David fiddles with everything in front of him, trying to combine and then light them on fire to see how quickly they burn. He’s finding that it’s very difficult. Creating oil is a chemical process and unless they have cooking oil, which he might be able to use, they were out of luck with this idea.

He frowns lightly poking over a piece of wood with his finger tip.]

Darn, I really thought that it would work.

Action; Marking a Trail @ Forest

[David can’t actually do that much. His skills include his work and his home life, lucky for him he’s used to living and working in a forest. The over grown trees and vines don’t make him all that nervous. He moves quickly, shifting between being human and a wolf, with a small bag tied around his neck.

With some help, he’s taken one of the sheets from the inn and tore it up into small square-ish pieces. He has some nails that he’s ninja’ed from the nearby houses and a piece of paper he’s using to draw a map of the town, the plans and the forest.

The process is simple: he runs, pauses somewhere safe, shifts, pulls on pants, tags a tree with a marker, makes a note on his map and then repeats the process. He’s also looking for safe trails but that can change daily so he isn’t focusing solely on that. Before leaving the woods he’ll snag a sample of whatever it is that attack Cat and bring it back with him for Harry or someone to look at.]

Action; Finding a Cure @ Inn

[Cat isn’t feeling well, she doesn’t have to complain for David to notice. He’s been watching her since the vine attacked her and not in a creepy way but a concerned way. He knows that there are some people in the inn who might be able to help so, after making sure that Cat is okay, he takes the samples he grabbed from the forest and goes looking for people who might be able to help.

Biology isn’t really his thing.

He knows that Harry might be able to help, he’s a wizard and they do wizardy things but he’s sure that someone else might know something. So, without any shame, he walks up to the people he doesn’t know and presents his samples to them.]

Do you know anything about poisons, plants and cures?

[Probably not the weirdest question he’s asked a stranger.]

( Outskirts of Town | Arrival - I believe this is what a psychotic break feels like )
[One moment ago, Corbin had closed his eyes for exactly two seconds against the pain of an encroaching headache brought on by over-thinking far too much information. What had happened over those next few moments was lost on him. He didn't remember falling asleep, and looking back later would realize how impossible it would have been for him to do so considering the circumstances, and yet, the next moment, he felt the world fall away, the constant pressure of one of the oldest and most powerful wells of power in the world was gone, replaced with an emptiness just as solid, just as pressing, just as insistent. It rolled in his gut and he turned to the side, the burning there forcing him to hurl, though his stomach was mostly empty.

He slowly slid his eyes open, groaning as he blinked into the gloom. Nothing caught the attention of his senses. At all. The blades of grass beneath his fingers were brittle, dry. It was though he'd somehow woken up in a nightmare. Still stunned by his new and vacant surroundings, he didn't notice the lumbering, monstrous pastry until it snapped a dry twig not ten feet from him.

He turned suddenly at the sound and looked up, squinting into the faint light. Reflex alone allowed him to roll out of the way of the confectionery beast and it slammed down it's sugary arms at his head. He's a scientist, not a fighter. All he knows is to run, and he doesn't bother trying to climb to his feet, opting instead to scramble away from the biscuit as quickly as possible.

( At the Inn - Indoors | Brilliant to see they have food. I'll pass on the cookies, thank you )
[Unlike any other time Corbin has ever proceeded toward civilization, this trek didn't produce a worse and worse feeling of loss the further he was from nature. It was a harrowing feeling, and a worse thought, but he tried to ignore it. His mind was already reeling from various revelations, and what he would really like was a nice cup of tea, brandy, something to eat, and a healthy dose of ignoring everyone around him. Of course, there was no where to accomplish that. There was no one to send after tea, all the alcohol seemed to have vanished from this village along with all the life, the common room was crowded (at least by his standards).

He'll spend quite some time rooting around in the pantries in the kitchen for something akin to tea, and once he finds it (green tea of all things, at least by the smell), he'll be waiting impatiently for a kettle over a wood-burning stove, then sitting nearest a window in the common room. All the commotion, and the inability to accept he was attacked by a giant cookie, leave him looking more than a little distraught, though he's doing his best to hide it throughout this entire process.
]

( Room #5 | I thought my roommate days ended with University. I would like that to be the case )
[When he enters the room, it's obvious it's shared. There are two bunk bed, the bottom one on the right clearly unused. He assumes this one is meant for his use. If he wasn't so exhausted, he'd go back downstairs and ask for a more private room, if at all possible, but he had no money here, and was in position to make demands. Having a bed was better than no, no matter where it might be.

He'd been in a position of having no bed in the past. This was preferable.
]

More like the lesser of two evils.

[He muttered a response to his own thoughts into the room at large. He was still stunned by the evening's events, his senses were still dulled by the lack energy in this place, and hasn't noticed if anyone else has come in.]
